The Spikester

I don't know how Mikayla got so lucky with a dad that loves her more than any daddy I have ever seen. He comes home from work and loves on her all night long. A lady from our ward got her this little outfit and it fits perfectly. All she has to do is hear the sound of her dad's voice and she is almost instantly quite. She definitely has him wrapped around her little fingers!

Her dad calls her Spike---and for a very good reason!

At the Hospital

On July 1st, when I woke up, I was having the weirdest feelings in my stomach and back. I had never had feelings like these and I was so close to my due date that I was positive they were contractions. I had a doctor's appt. in the morning and he said I wasn't dilated yet so I didn't know how long I would be having these contractions. At 9:00 pm I arrived at the hospital dilated to a 6. After a bunch of pushing, some complications, and and emergency C-section, we were given our little baby girl. She didn't come until the 2nd, at 2:35 am. She weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz. and was 21 inches long. And for a bonus she had a head full of hair. Here are a few pictures from those days in the hospital.

Our lives in a nutshell

All right, I have about five years to catch everyone up on, so I will make it short and sweet. Wes and I met in January of 2003 in a very interesting way. I was dating his room mate (which didn't last long once I met Wes). By July we were happily married and settled into our first home. We lived there for 2 1/2 years and then moved into a home across the street from my parents. I don't know about Wes for sure but I loved living that close to my family. I got to see them much more than I am able to do now! We were only in the second house for about six months because we decided to build a new home, which was complete in the summer of 2006, where we live now. Wes graduated from school in December 2005 in Computer Information Systems. He has been able to use his degree while working at Farmer's Insurance. I just recently graduated in December in Elementary Education. I was able to use my degree for half a year while teaching Title I. I will now be using that education to teach my children. We now have the wonderful opportunity to raise our own little daughter. She was born a couple weeks before our fifth anniversary. But that is a whole other post!

It's about time.....

After convincing two people not to start blogs because they are scary...here I am. I know, I am quite the hypocrite. But I can't help looking at all my friends and families blogs and wonder why I haven't started one myself yet. It's so fun to keep tabs on people through their blogs so I want to have one as well that my family and friends can check up on me with. And now that I have such an adorable baby, I want to show her off for the world to see! Thanks to everyone that takes the time to make your blogs so cute so as to tempt me to start my own! :)
