Hello there. I'm sure you all have been wondering if we would stay firm with the binky situation or if we would give in and give her one without a hole in it...
WE DID IT!!!
She has not had her binky for 12 days! She doesn't even ask for it anymore!
But.......it has not been easy. Not for her and not for us!
If you want to know how our last couple of weeks have gone, read on (if not, there is still a cute picture below!):
The last time I wrote it was Monday the 11th. On Tuesday morning I hid the binky from her and she did fine for the first few hours and then she cried for it all day (hence the reason for getting rid of it in the first place). I did give it to her a few times just so she could see that it was broken and that it didn't work. But it would just make her mad every time. Later that night Wes was watching her and she asked for it and he told her it was broken but he handed it to her. He asked her what we do with broken things...we throw them away! So she threw it in the garbage. :) She knows that once things go in the garbage they don't come out.
Later that night when she asked for it to go to sleep, we told her it was broken and that she threw it away. She didn't like that! But she ended up going to sleep for a couple of hours. When she woke up she couldn't go back to sleep so her and I went to sleep on the couch. She refused to sleep without it so we laid on the couch for a few hours while she cried. She finally fell asleep a couple of hours before Wes went to work.
Now...reread the last paragraph...twice! :(
As for naps, they haven't been going so well either. She has a hard time falling asleep without her binky to suck on and to comfort her to sleep.
Although there are times I still want to reach into the back of the drawer where they are hidden so I can have a minute of peace, I remind myself that once all of this is resolved, it
will be better this way!
The worst part of the situation is now she refuses to sleep anywhere but OUR bed. So now that the binky is gone...we have to get her in her own bed!
And just to show you how stinkin' cute and fun this little chick is:
