Winter already?

Hey everyone...we are still alive (believe it or not)! :) I have taken a million pictures that I will get up here one day-haha. But for now here are some cute shots of Mikayla.

The other day she got into the closet with all of our coats and she insisted she needed to wear her "winter wear." And she couldn't just have some of it, she needed it all. So here she has on her hat, gloves, scarf, and coat!!! It's too bad the pictures don't show the best part...she is wearing sandals with no socks! :)

Our December Surprises

As most of you have heard...we are having twins! We are due in December and are 10 1/2 weeks along so far. Both babies are measuring exactly the right size and are super healthy and happy. We were able to see both heart beats and both babies gave us a little wave when we had "just them" in the picture.

At first I was way shocked, scared, nervous, angry, sad...all of the things that I shouldn't feel when we have planned the pregnancy...but with time the idea is getting more and more normal and we are starting to think ahead to what we need to do to get prepared for the new little ones:

New car
another crib
another bassinet
new car seats
new stroller
...
I'm sure the list goes on and on...this is only the beginning of a totally different life style!!!

Binky Update!

Hello there. I'm sure you all have been wondering if we would stay firm with the binky situation or if we would give in and give her one without a hole in it...

WE DID IT!!!

She has not had her binky for 12 days! She doesn't even ask for it anymore!

But.......it has not been easy. Not for her and not for us!

If you want to know how our last couple of weeks have gone, read on (if not, there is still a cute picture below!):

The last time I wrote it was Monday the 11th. On Tuesday morning I hid the binky from her and she did fine for the first few hours and then she cried for it all day (hence the reason for getting rid of it in the first place). I did give it to her a few times just so she could see that it was broken and that it didn't work. But it would just make her mad every time. Later that night Wes was watching her and she asked for it and he told her it was broken but he handed it to her. He asked her what we do with broken things...we throw them away! So she threw it in the garbage. :) She knows that once things go in the garbage they don't come out.

Later that night when she asked for it to go to sleep, we told her it was broken and that she threw it away. She didn't like that! But she ended up going to sleep for a couple of hours. When she woke up she couldn't go back to sleep so her and I went to sleep on the couch. She refused to sleep without it so we laid on the couch for a few hours while she cried. She finally fell asleep a couple of hours before Wes went to work.

Now...reread the last paragraph...twice! :(

As for naps, they haven't been going so well either. She has a hard time falling asleep without her binky to suck on and to comfort her to sleep.

Although there are times I still want to reach into the back of the drawer where they are hidden so I can have a minute of peace, I remind myself that once all of this is resolved, it will be better this way!

The worst part of the situation is now she refuses to sleep anywhere but OUR bed. So now that the binky is gone...we have to get her in her own bed!

And just to show you how stinkin' cute and fun this little chick is:

Bath Time Beauty

We haven't taken many bath time pictures lately so I figured it was about time for some. She is quite the little model when she has crazy hair!

The end of life as we know it!

These are some of the last pictures any of us will ever see like this:

Mikayla trying to figure out what is wrong with her binky...

Yes...there is a whole in the middle of it:

I have had NO problem with her using a binky because she only uses it when she's sleeping (or at church because it's during nap time). The last couple of days she has learned the word "binky" and now she thinks she needs it all day long. Yesterday she asked for it all day and I would tell her she couldn't have it all day and then she would cry. It was a rough day for both of us. So this morning I decided we needed to get rid of it! So I cut a whole in it. She cried because she couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. I let her cry. Then she figured out that she could still suck on it, it would just work a little differently. Then she would go a little while without it and she would think she would need it so I would let her have it and she would cry...so the whole day went. She couldn't fall asleep with it "not working," so she fell asleep with it in her hand!

This is her right now...as I type. YAY! We'll see how the rest of the week goes!

Family Pictures

Here are our family pictures Mel took for us. I love them! I'm happy to say that I have made Christmas cards (for the first time) to send out to family and friends, and I have replaced old family pictures in the house with these new ones. Thanks Mel, you rock! I'll post our Christmas picture closer to Christmas, so those of you who haven't received it yet-because I won't be sending them out until Monday :) - will get to see a preview!
