Two weeks late...

I have a habit of taking Mickey's "monthly" pictures about two weeks later than her monthly birthday. But here they are: 4 months! Hey, at least I'm consistent. :)

Okay...I'm done now!

Our little bug

So Halloween is now officially over...but here are the pics anyways. We went to our wards trunk-or-treat last weekend and last night we went to Wes's work Halloween party. Tonight we went to a few friends/families houses to show off for the last time.

I've been tagged

Tagged by Angela....Basically the rules are, I tell 7 weird/interesting things about myself and then tell 7 other people to do it and leave them a comment about it!

1. I have this weird thing in my little brain with numbers. I like them. I like to play around with them in different situations. I like to look at people's license plate numbers and figure out if the numbers are connected in any way. For example: 339415 (3x3=9, 4+1=5). I also do that with addresses, phone numbers and different times of the day. Some of my favorite times of the day are 12:34 (1234), 3:39 (3x3=9), 6:36, 7:49, 10:27 (my birthday), 3:11 (my husband's), 7:02 (my daughter's). Call me crazy, but I love to play around with numbers and make them work.

2. I have this crazy obsession with scrapbooking stuff, specifically paper and stamps. The worst part about this obsession is that I have thousands of dollars worth of stuff...and I DON'T USE IT!!! I just like to buy it! :)

3. My whole life I have hated fall. I hated the chilly weather and most of all the fact that winter is right around the corner. I hate winter more than anything. I never want to leave my house in the winter. But...for some reason, this fall has been different. I seem to like going outside and smelling the fall aromas in the air. I love to see the leaves change colors and fall to the ground. I like to walk through the leaves and feel them crunching underneath my feet. I like to take walks in the chilly weather and feel the breeze on my face. Something is definitely wrong with me.

4. Just reiterating the fact that I hate winter. I live in a freezing cold state and I hate winter. Don't ask me why I am still living here.

5. I love little things. Miniature things. Little teapot sets, little feet, little cups, little doors, little irons, little dvd's, little spoons, little socks, little books, little diapers, little ...you get the point. Even my best friend's husband sees little things and says, "Kira would like that."

6. I love Jane Austen novels and Jane Austen films. My favorite is Pride and Predjudice. But then again, I am only on my 3rd of her novels, so I may have a different favorite when I get through them all. I only watch the movies whenI am done with the novel. Although most movies ruin the book for me, this is not the case with the A&E version of P&P. This is by far my favorite movie in the world. I am a sucker for movies set in earlier centuries and for love films, which encompasses this movie in full. My husband makes fun of me for loving this kind of stuff, but I think he loves me even more for it! ;)

7. And last, but not least, I have always wanted to be a photographer. I don't have a lot of experience in this area, but I have been practicing. I have taken a few family pictures, baby/kid pictures, senior pictures, one wedding on my own, and two weddings as the secondary photographer. Although my pictures aren't the most amazing pictures in the world, I am trying all the time to come up with new ideas to make my pictures better. I do have one little problem with making this be more than a fantasy career. I am not very outgoing with people that I don't know. This makes it hard to go out of my way to make my business grow. It's something I have always struggled with, but it's something I will have to work on if I want to make this dream become a reality. Last year for my birthday my husband bought me a really nice camera, and I have had a few opportunities to use it. I want to thank Wes for his support for me in this desire of mine. He is very supportive and always tells me that I can do it. He even just recently purchased a website for me to start my photo business...but it's not set up yet. I would not be able to do this without his support!

All right, the 7 people I am tagging are: Jill, Mel, Krista, Georgia, Kaci, Heather, and Kristen

Pork...it's what's for dinner

A few nights ago we were at Wes's parent's house. His mom was playing with Mikayla and decided to get a toy for her to play with. She grabbed this naked pig and WOW...I found out how much my daughter is looking forward to eating some bacon!

I don't know about you guys, but I could not stop laughing. When Wes got back from playing raquet ball with his dad I had him watch the video (which is longer than this little clip) and he couldn't even finish it he was laughing so hard.

Doin' my own thing

This last weekend Wes and I were out mowing and weed eating the lawn and Mikayla had the wonderful opportunity of hanging out with us! :) We got her all decked out in her winter clothes and her hat, tucked her in a few comfy blankets and let her swing while we worked. She didn't seem to mind the cold weather, in fact I think she kind of liked it. And she didn't have a problem with the sounds of the machines.

First haircut

Mikayla has always had a beautiful head of hair, but as everyone has said, she will lose it all. So I have been dreading the day that it would happen. And it is here! She has gone bald on one side of her head and the rest of her hair is thinning rapidly. So to please my husband, I got a couple chunks of her hair cut so we could save them. On the bald side of her head (the first pic) she had one chunk of hair that I decided to get rid of so now it's all bald. Off the top of her head where it's really thick I got a chunk from underneath so you can't even tell it's gone (the second two pics). As for the rest of the uneven spots...I'm not ready to give those up yet.

The big chunk is from the top and the one at the bottom that you can barely see is from the side of her head.

Time Travelin'

Since I haven't had my blog for very long I have quite a few things that have happened with my little girl that I haven't had a chance to post yet, so we will be going back in time for this post to review Mikayla's life... These are a few of her one month pictures.

For the first couple of months she was always going cross-eyed. I was worried that her eyes would be like that permanently, but then I read that for a while babies eyes work independently of each other, so then I quit worrying and started having fun with it. She could always make me laugh after that. I was glad when it stopped because that meant her eyes were functioning correctly, but I miss it at the same time, because it kind of grew on me.

Here are a few of her two month pictures. Most of them were taken with her cousin Taya, who was born just 12 days before Mikayla. They are going to be good buddies!

"What are they doing to us?" Mikayla wispers.

And this last picture for now is my two month appointment at the Dr. office. She was so good after her shots. She only cried for about 10 seconds and then she fell asleep.

Our little sleeper

In my last post I confessed my love for sleeping...well, I'm not alone in this obsession. My lovely little girl has the same love for sleeping that I do. I have been very lucky from the beginning with her sleeping habits. For the first couple of months I would only have to get up once in the night to feed her and then she would sleep for a few more hours. Now it's a whole other story (but a good one). On Thursday night she was really hungry at 7:20, which was early, so I fed her, and then she was still screaming so I figured she must be tired. I laid her on our bed and at 10:30 she was still sleeping. Wes was ready for bed so I grabbed her and put her in her crib and worked around the house because I figured she would be waking up any minute to eat. Finally I didn't want to wait any longer, so I went to bed around 11:15. Wes woke me up at 7:00 am with a hungry baby. WOW, that was the longest she has ever slept in one shot. Almost 12 hours. And then Saturday night she went to sleep around midnight and didn't wake up until 9 am during church. I fed her right after the sacrament was passed and she fell asleep until 3:45. That's almost 15 hours minus her little break to eat ONCE...I wonder how I got so lucky. I have heard a lot of moms say how tired they are all the time. That's not something I have had to deal with. She sleeps as much as me, if not more! :)

Our little sleeping angel

The spike...again.

And just like mom...she can sleep in any position! :)

It's all worth it...

I don't know about everyone else out there, but I hate waking up in the morning. I would sleep in as long as I could everyday if I had nothing that I needed to wake up for. This morning after I fed Mikayla I put her in my bed and then I did a few things around the house then went back to bed with her. She was supposed to eat around 9:30. So when I woke up at 9:30 and she was still sleeping I figured I would take advantage of that, so I fell back to sleep. Not 15 minutes later I heard her squeak so I looked over at her and she was staring at me with the biggest smile on her face. Usually she wakes up hungry, but she was ready to play and smile and talk and tell me all about her dreams. Moments like that melt my heart like nothing else in the world can do. I love all of her smiles, especially when she is smiling at me and I'm not even looking, then I know she knows who I am and she loves me as much as I love her.

Milestones

I have had so much fun watching Mikayla grow physically and mentally. She always seems to be doing something new and always seems just a little bigger than the day before. Every time Wes comes home from work he comments on how much bigger she is getting. On one hand it is so sad that she is getting bigger because I had so much fun with her when she was a new baby. Granted, all she did was sleep and eat, but I would spend all of those first days just holding her, staring at her, and admiring all of her beauty. She doesn't sleep quite as much nowadays, but she is doing things that she didn't do her first month or so of life. She had been talking (cooing) like crazy. It seems like she always has something to say. I think she's going to be a little talker! She is also standing up so well! All I have to do is hold her hands and she can support the rest of her body. Her neck is super strong also. She has been sitting up in her bumbo chair for quite a while now. She loves to sit in that chair and look around at everything there is to see. She is going to be just like her father: He takes in ALL the information that he possibly can and he saves it all somewhere in his brain (I don't know how he does that, but I'm jealous). Sometimes I think that she doesn't want to go to sleep because she wants to look around just a little while longer to see something new.

Her bumbo...taken when she was only 2 months old.

Yesterday has to have been the most eventful day of Mikayla's life so far.

-One of the things that she does that I love so much is stick her tongue out all the time. She has slowly been mimicking me when I talk to her; she will talk back to me. Well, yesterday I think she started to understand mimicking even better. She was talking to me more than she has ever talked before. And when I would stick my tongue out at her, she would stick hers out back at me. I couldn't stop laughing, we were having so much fun.
-She also made a pooping record! :) She pooped five times. I'm pretty sure the most she's done that is three times in one day. And for those of you who hang out with us regularly, you know that she has a minor problem with her poop coming out of the back of her diaper and getting all over her outfit. It's actually not that minor. It's happens more often than not. Out of her five times she only got it all over one outfit! Yeay! That saved me a lot of scrubbing time!
-The best part of my day yesterday was her laugh. It's not technically her first laugh, because she does it quite often in her sleep. But it was her first conscious laugh. Her and I were playing, talking, doing what we normally do and I decided to flip her upside down. At first I think she was surprised at the change of scenery. Everything was upside down. Something must have caught her attention because she started laughing. I hurried and flipped her back around and she had the BIGGEST smile on her face. I was completely taken off guard. That was the last thing that I expected, but the best part on my day! We did the flips a couple of times and accomplished a few more of the cutest laughs in the world...and then she had enough, and we had to change games!

Needless to say I am loving be a mother, and I am always looking forward to the next new thing that will be coming our way!

The Spikester

I don't know how Mikayla got so lucky with a dad that loves her more than any daddy I have ever seen. He comes home from work and loves on her all night long. A lady from our ward got her this little outfit and it fits perfectly. All she has to do is hear the sound of her dad's voice and she is almost instantly quite. She definitely has him wrapped around her little fingers!

Her dad calls her Spike---and for a very good reason!

The above spike is all natural...but Aunt KK helped her out with these spikes!

At the Hospital

On July 1st, when I woke up, I was having the weirdest feelings in my stomach and back. I had never had feelings like these and I was so close to my due date that I was positive they were contractions. I had a doctor's appt. in the morning and he said I wasn't dilated yet so I didn't know how long I would be having these contractions. At 9:00 pm I arrived at the hospital dilated to a 6. After a bunch of pushing, some complications, and and emergency C-section, we were given our little baby girl. She didn't come until the 2nd, at 2:35 am. She weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz. and was 21 inches long. And for a bonus she had a head full of hair. Here are a few pictures from those days in the hospital.

I don't know if I'm ready for this!

I'm Here!!!!!!!!!!

I think my daddy loves me!

We were stuck in the hospital on the 4th, but she still wanted
everyone to know that she was daddy's little sparkler!

This is my cousin Taya...she is only 12 days older than me.

I can't wait to get home and sleep in my own bed!

I'm outta here! This is the outfit mom chose for
me to wear home. I think I'm kind of cute!

When the doctor cut mommy open, she got me too!
